The other day I did something daring; I tried painting in oils! I was always a little bit intimidated by oil paints. They seemed way too advanced, not to mention a bit toxic. But, I had this amazing picture of a leopard kerr and I knew the only way to go was oils. So, with no expectations for success, I got out my canvas and my dad talked me through the basics. As I started to paint, I found out how easy oils actually are! I did “fly off the handle” a couple of times when something smeared or looked funny, but I found out the paint is very forgiving. I named this painting Loyalty, because the hound’s eyes seemed filled with humble fidelity as he patiently waited for his master’s command.
